| hello, i just thought id take a minute to bitch and moan about a film i was really looking forward to seeing that turns out to be bollox. yes i went to see cloverfield today, that new jj abrahms film that trailered on transformers, that looked very impressive. im affraid to say that it isnt. "DO NOTÂ READ ON IF YOU DONT WANNA KNOW WHAT HAPPENS"Â
                                 its a cross between Blair witch project and Godzilla. people at a party for a departing friend going to japan, one man is going round taping goodbye messages from everybody "fair enough i may add" but me the viewer is in the camera seeing it all from that angle and the bloke filming can not hold his fucking hand still. "it shakes for ages" this goes on for about 20 mins ish. then suddenly there is a big bang and shaking. " people screem as they do in hollywood" so they all decide to go on the roof, another explosion debrie heads towards them so the run back in then down onto street" just like trailer" big head falls blah blah blah. they run into shop to hide. at which point i think the camera man puts the camera down. shop gets fucked, glass and metal/concrete goes everywhere, shop fills with dust. then for some reason man picks the camera back up to carry on filming. ok i see a small reason for this, just to catch a little bit on film i suppose, like a few other people might. then it all gets stupid. the cast decide they need to cross the brooklyn bridge to get away, from whatever it is "still aint seen monster" they start running the camera is shaking and bouncing all over the place."this is the point where most people would turn off the camera and concerntrate on what they are doing, i.e running through a fucked new york with broken buildings everywhere. but no he manages to film it all.   meanwhile on the bridge people are moving across, then supprise supprise the monster attacks the bridge, yeah it shocked me too, lol. one of main cast dies, at this time the bridge is getting mangled by monster "still cant see it" panic resumes people run back, camera man continues to film then stops turns around to film the destruction. "camera is violantly shaking" its hard to make out things.Â
   This scenario happens on many occasion through the film, namely when they are being attacked by these little monsters which have been coming out the big one. he carries on to film his friends get attacked then he drops the camera to help, then he is attacked, they move away from camera. then he goes back to pick up camera to carry on filming. why would you do that just leave the fucking camera on the floor.     The film actually started to annoy me quite alot at this point, so i wont say any more about it. Basically crap plot, crap camera angle's, crap monster, all the cast die, you never find out if the monster is defeated.  just kept asking myself why would a person film all this.     maybe the fact i was expecting something totally different, ruined it for me. highly dissapointing, its all hype.         Â
      but i did see a trailer for new star trek film by same guy. looks like a prequall.*correct that as you wish* you see them building the enterprise,  that should be better i hope.                | |
