| I am currently writing this on my new MacBook.....
Oh so white and shiney. Purchased for browsing, music, videos and not as many viruses. I am sure there is a special place in hell for me.....
It seems that the forum is different in Safari (Mac equivalent IE)...As in the smilies appear as text and having paragraphs is not possible...Any ideas or solutions???

Well, I know what a PC is and can do. I also have a growing understanding of what a mac can do. Trendy & status have no bearing on the decision to get a MacBook.....at all, just its capabilities for all that I want it to do

what a long winded way of doing it, with teh modern intel based macs you download bootcamp and the xp/vista driver files from apple and buy a copy of windows, dont know whay anyone would want to put that linux shit on there machine
anyway this edit is made on my powerbook and i see what you mean swift as i said in my first post i have mainly been using firefox for my mac browsing as that works exactly like the windows version, apart from different keyboard commands due to the apple command key

| concerning Apple Mac and touting it has less viruses, didn't that get Apple into trouble as in hackers and virus makers saw it as a challenge and they had to drop that selling point?

nope, still using that selling point
i believe there is a "Hack a Mac" challenge where if you create a virus that does damage to the Mac OS you win like $10,000 or something

| I think you'll probably find that the number of virii for any particular OS is diectly related to its popularity/usage, What's the point in writing a virus for an OS used by only a fraction of computer users ? Fact is Windows is (or has been) more widely used than MAC or Linux (although this is ever changing).
I don't think it really has that much to do with any of the OS's 'virus resistance'. I would also hazard a guess that making an OS more compatible to support more lines of software/hardware also makes it inherantly more vulnerable (although i'm no programmer) which would also make windows the top target considering it mananges to support (how well it supports also another matter) a whole bunch of hardware and software that you just dont see used or plain can't on MACs.
