Hey i got a bit of an issue with my PC... whenever i run a game in fullscreen it runs for about 10 mins then crashes...screen goes blank and pc doesnt respond to anything.. i can only reset it by switching off at the wall..... i was told it could be due to my computer overheating... is that so ???   if it is how do i go about fixing it.. justr clean the fan out ect ?? any ideas ect...

could be - getting rid of dust is never a bad idea

you could also run it up with the side off and double check all the fans are actually going round (sometimes the bearings go), and double check things like the CPU heatsink is seated properly on the cpu

if that ain't it, then it could be something software-ish - but if it's 10 minutes whatever the game (no matter how long your PC's been on for previously) then it sounds like it's a runnning under load / heat problem

How old is the Power Supply Unit? I had to replace mine this year as my computer would reboot whenever I went into a graphics intensive game (pretty much all of them) whenever the PSU would be required to put more juice into the graphics card my pc rebooted.

Just another possibility.

Power unit is only about 1 year old... It seems to be working fine now... i just taken the side off and cleaned out the fan..it is working so i guess it was just clogged with dust and overheating... it wasnt just fallout it was crashing..it was any (demanding game)  i run fullscreen... i could run fallout in windowed mode and the it seem to be fine..id get a bit of lag then somthing big happened... but that  might be due to my system.... i think i should really upgrade to 2gig or ram by now lol... just need toe get some money

Fallout 3 is buggy.

You are not the only person reporting this exact problem, so before blaming the hardware, check this and here

Personally I had to reformat and reinstall Windows entirely to get it running properly (bethsoft really did do a bad job, though they did end up making a very good game despite the bugs)

Cerb you might have missed the point mate, if it doesn't feel hot then it means the thermal transfer might be bad somewhere (meaning that a component is actually holding the heat in and overheating),

take off cpu cooler... clean both plates.. small blob of thermal compound, reseat.Â

I had some issues ages ago with me trust old 1gz athlon t'bird and cooling, ended up splashing some wedge on a nice fat Akasa Silver Mountain for it.. worked a treat...

have you checked event logs to see if theres any indication as to why you're shutting down.. maybe worth fiddling around and looking at temps to see if its that, or a psu issue. I had something similar with a PSU.. just got a bit old n tired.. like we all do. BOught a new one, goodbye problem... ran for ages without a game running (low power requirements I guess) then died if I ran anygame..  didn't put up with it long enough to see if it died out-of-game after a time..
