| Aloha Â
Have been holding off purchasing a PS3 for some time, but with the newer release - hXXp://www.amazon.co.uk/Sony-PlayStation-Console-120GB-Model/dp/B002L16JXS/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1251133550&sr=8-2Â
I am quite tempted. I take you will be able to watch live content direct from your PC etc? Is it worth finally taking the plunge to enjoy HD Blu Ray on my HD Ready Samsung?!Â
Any particular games that could be played on the PS3 rather than the PC, or is it predominantly for media purposes when you have a PC? Thoughts are appreciated!

| a few games lend themselves to console rather than PC.. footie and other sport games being a classic example.. always good to get out when the boys are round for a beer - trickier to do that round a PC... Â beat-em-ups as well... Tekken, Streetfighter etc... Â Â MGS4 is pretty good and of course Gran Turismo will be out soonish...
ps3 streams media quite nicely across the network either wired or wirelessly.. and now supports a whole host of codecs- xvid, divx etc... windows media player can be used as a file server so no extras really required... or a networked harddrive with upnp media server (liek wot i got :D) saves powering up the PC every time you wanna watch a movie. Get a remote as they're cheap and well handy.. easier to use than a controller for navigating menues etc etc.

| I actually prefer my PS3 to the xbox (its dam quieter as well)... I personally think the games arre smoother to play as well. I have just traded in CALL OF JAUREZ, not too bad for a shooter, varied gameplay etc. Just got Res Evil 5, so looking forward to that. As Tongeh said, realy good for sports sims etc etc...   Espeically Tiger Woods - that rocks and soooooo much fun.
I also think the PS3 Store has come on leaps and bounds compared to 6months ago... it was dire then, I would still say that the 360 store is easier to navigate but the ps3 is always improving IMHO.Â
If you get one dude, let me know and we have a blast :) | |

| | Got the original ps3, so can play ps2 games, mainly use it for upscaling/streaming movies though, makes a good blue-ray player as its always kept up to date, unlike some standalone ones. Tend to use the 360 more for games , just getting into wolfenstein atm :P | | | |

| | I only really use mine for a dvd/ bluray player, ive got a few games all of which have been very good, soul calibur 4 being one of them is arcade perfect :), I dont really do fps on it though as i like to use keyboard and mouse for that sort of game, i did hear you can use keyboard and mouse on it, but i wouldnt know which ones would be compatible and which games i could use them on, if anyone knows please say :) | | | |

| | only just found out today, that you can plug an external hard drive into the front usb ports of the ps3 and play movies from it, and it sees any format too :) | | | |
