p4 3.2 / p4D 2.66 / AMD 64 2500+

Nvid 6800 or ATI x1650 or higher (8600 GTS / x1900 or higher recommended)
5.1 Sound recommended
DX9.0 or DX10
12GB HD Space

minimum requirements are not that high.. but then I expect it to run like a fucking pig on those specs... (no disrespect to Myx intended roflol!)

lol

Hmmm, I have

E6420 overclocked to 390x8 (~3.1 GHz)
320MB 8800GTS
2GB RAM 1:1

(that's from my memory, been over a year and a half since I built this thing lol)

Might download the demo and see how it goes.  I remember when the original Far Cry came out and murdered my 9800XT which was pretty much the best card out at the time

It's lovely, very entertaining

Even the map editor is really good

though the lack of a server browser for multiplayer is a huge oversight - it does some sort of smart-matching and you can't join a game in progress either

Do you really like it Varp?

I've read on some proper gaming sites (like Sharky Extreme, not IGN lol) that it thoroughly does not deserve the good reviews it has received and it's the usual case that the magazines who give very positive reviews are in cahoots with the publishers etc.

Gotta admit that the screenies suggest the depth of colour is about as shallow as that of the original Quake, ie washed out browns all over the place.

like most things, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.. or something. Or one mans meat is another mans poison (guess thats quite true.. think I'd be violently sick if I had another mans meat in me gob)

theres bound to be a whole load of 'its shit' reviews, just as likely as the ones professing to its grandeur. Varp certainly to the best of my knowledge, is NOT in cahoots with Ubisoft.. but he liked it.

suck it and see.. a bit like meat i suppose.

eh?

what?

I saw a 'review' and more importantly, some game footage on 'Playr' on Bravo channel.

It looked mediocre to me. but then again, i didnt think the first one was all that tbh...

Well, it's a particular type of game I s'pose...

despite rave reviews, quite a lot of people didn't think much of HalfLife2 or even play it particularly, they just bought it for CS:S

I think it's pretty good and very entertaining...a few comedy moments such as setting myself up in a nice snipey position before picking off about 15 or so goons...first shot BLAM-SPRANG! jam & misfire, so the rifle's now completely useless and chucked....now I'm in an ideal snipey position with a MAC-10 to pick off 15 goons armed with assault rifles and one sniper who have all noticed the sneaky bugger precariously perched on that ledge on a cliff...

total comedy/panic and very entertaining..
The one thing I will say is that the purchase of Camo asap makes stealth suddenly a realistic option, whereas before you might as well be in a luminous donkey jacket

It's good.....in my opinion

and while a lot of it is brown (it's the middle of Africa in the summer brushfire season), some of it is white/yellow (desert) and some green and brown (jungle) and some blue and wibbly (water)
