| trouble is, i doubt rubber ducks existed in 17xx and they do stress it needs to be in keeping with the time..
hence the right and wrong union flags..

| Nice efforts, I was thinking that perhaps you could have a bathtub with an anchor sitting in it
like that just with the light blue flag thing you did earlier behind it or something and of course without the copyright infringment of using that guys cartoon drawing of a bathtub and my dodgy photoshopping lol

| as this is here might as well use it to ask a question. How many of us are seriously going to buy the game?
i have it on pre-order, but to be honest i have no great need to play it, CoD4 has filled a gaming void for the moment.
dont get me wrong i love the game but i feel that it will ultimately fall into the realms of the other games we have beta tested, like LOTRO and D&DO and will be played for 4 months max then forgotten about.
looking at all the boxes of mmo's i have i spy one that i really never played that much and wasn't shit. Everquest II.
i am aware of Tongeh's feelings to the game as well as Varp's, but again i ask, if we restart playing this will we 1) have enough people to group succesfully and 2) will we play it for longer than a couple of months.

| I can only really answer question 2.
I have purposfully not played the open beta because I didn't want the early stages of the game to get old. I intend to play it as long as I continue to enjoy it. Can I set a date as to when that'll be...no.
It's very hard to say what the release environment will be like concerning nation balance and players. I think it's fair to say post Stress Test 2 the Spanish were royally screwing up the game for everyone else. That and knowing that your character was only temporary ment that you didn't have much to strive for. Yet we still played & did fairly well considering.
Should we abandon our own group and join a large one? We did that in LOTRO whilst there was nice fringe benefits I feel it kinda screwed things up. Working as a small team keeps us occupied and the satisfaction levels are much higher.
My Personal reasons for leaving previous MMO's in no particular order
WoW - hahaha way too many reasons.
DDO - Party size limit ruined the fun, when we had more than six of us playing. I still think it's a great game though. It kind of relied on lying to friends though in order to smoothly progress the quest lines as 1 group.
LOTRO - Fantastic lore, beautiful graphics. I'll be frank though I got tired of never having any free time to go about and craft, my fault for being a minstrel I guess and i'll be honest for inviting the wife to play. That and it was feeling more and more like you MUST have this set of armour or THAT weapon a la WoW. So I jumped ship before I started getting really pissed off with it.
Tabula Rasa - Only beta tested it, personally felt like it would get old real fast so didn't bother purchasing it.
Eve - unless you devote a lot of time to it, the in game mechanics screw you over for having a life lol. That and the sheer size of the game universe coupled with hundreds if not thousands of gate campers/podders just stressed me out whenever any risk was involved. That's fine if it was for real money but as a game...nah not that entertaining I only like to get cold sweats from real life not from games.
I'm sure there's plenty of other games i've played and left and like I said I won't garauntee to always play POTBS but I will for a time.
UNLESS I can't play on EU servers then I won't bother with it at all lol

| still deliberating over whether to sail or not.. i'm kind of 70-30 in favour (or favor if u prefer poke ) of NOT playing.. I think I failed to be as excited by the game as some.. sadly it just never grabbed me in quite the same way... would play if it was just a £30 purchase and no monthly fee, but to me the game isn't worth subscribing to.. much like some didn't like Tabula Rasa I guess ? | |

| atm i am only paying a monthly fee for dungeon runners (only £2), have this morning suspended my TR account and my EQ2 account is awaiting consolidation with other station names i have, so it is currently suspended as well.
i am not in a position to have more that 2 full price mmos on the go at anyone time.
so can we please decide what we are going to do with POTBS in the shortest amount of time so i can cancel the preorder if needs be.
i for one would like to go back to playing eq2, as its a game i brought, played for about 3 weeks, never really got into it, then i think DDO came into beta, so was forgotten about.
EDIT: Pocus, as regards to your point about not finding time to craft in LOTRO, you need to make the time, if i was around on vent/ts when no one else was i crafted or ran the odd solo quest. with the time zone differace i would have thought that it would have been easier for you then anyone else. what was annoying me about it all was wehn we were all one for questing we would run 2 maybe 3 quests, go to hand them in, then spend the next 25 - 30 mins waiting for people to finish crafting.

| i enjoyed my few days of play in the open beta, although i would agree there wasnt really anything which jumped out and grabbed me, shooting other boats with canons was cool, but i think that was about vas good as it got for me.

| tried to find a 16th century bathtub, but am unlikely to find one...wouldn't you know it; bathtubs were a cool new trend at that time !!
A small aside - potted history and interesting bathtub-related facts... The Advent of the Modern Bathtub Not surprisingly, the British town of Bath played a vital role in the introduction of bathtubs into the modern world. The springs here were originally discovered by Prince Bladud, father of Kind Lear, who founded the city of Bath and dedicated the springs to Minerva. When the Romans arrived, they rebuilt the splendor of the great baths back home on smaller scale, only about 23 acres. They utilized, of course, all their brilliant and innovate technologies of plumbing. Around the 6th century, the Romans were forced to abandon Bath and the Isle of Britain altogether, and Bath was taken over by the Barbarians. These new rulers clearly had no idea how to upkeep or even use the Roman style baths and they quickly fell into decline. The middle ages were no better since the early Christians rejected anything Roman, for various reasons, and considered bathing an unholy act. Bath houses, and bathing in general, were considered an act of debauchery and decadence. Yay for the wisdom of early Christians! The baths were restored in the 16th century and were relatively popular by the 18th century. Cleanliness, however, was still not a very important issue at the time, and people more often coated themselves with perfumes, powders and oils. A trip to the bath was a rare, perhaps annual journey. One person changed this however, a well known gambler and dandy by the name of Richard Nash. Nash was a trend setter and before long, the site of Bath became a hot spot for loyalty and the rich and famous. Soon the healing properties of the baths became popular legend and people came in droves. Admiral Lord Nelson claimed that his health had been completely restored after one visit to the baths. It is around this time that a connection between cleanliness and good health was discovered. Slowly, bathtubs became a fixture in most homes and the first bathtub in America is thought to have been imported by Benjamin Franklin. The first bathtub in the White House was installed by Millard Fillmore in 1850. Interesting Bathtub Facts and Trivia - About 365 people drown in their bathtubs each year. By comparison, about 350 people get struck by lightning annually.
- An old law in Kentucky required citizens to take a bath at least once a year
- The longest Monopoly game played in a bathtub lasted 99 hours.
- Edmond Rostand was a French writer who hated to be interrupted while he was working, but he did not like to turn his friends away because he was writing. So he spent much of his time writing while in the bathtub- and turned away his friends because he was taking a bath. In 1898 he published Cyrano de Bergerac.
- A friend gave Dorothy Parker a small alligator. She put it into the bathtub until she could figure out what to do with it, then left for an appointment. When she returned, she found this note from the maid: "I have resigned. I refuse to work in a house where there is an alligator in the bathtub. I would have told you this before, but I did not think the matter would ever come up."
- During the bombing of London in World War II, a young lady was taking a bath when her home was hit by a bomb. The bathtub was thrown in the air and came down upside down with the girl underneath it. The tub sheltered her from the collapsing rubble. Rescuers digging through the ruins looking for survivors were very surprised to find a naked girl unharmed under the bathtub.

Not one to be a nay'sayer but with this not being played for two weeks and a few in our number either not been seen or cancelling accounts it seams we have a new record of two months of playing a mmo before getting board with it. And what's more we have abandoned it for a four year old game that's been faffed about with so much a lot of the origional players have left in disgust.
