| Some options might be around...  a) Aboria, or something like it  b) Hyboria Hymen c) Something related to Manannan (ancient Irish god of the sea and the afterlife, part of the Irish pantheon along with Crom - also one of Conan's gods)  - dude had a mystic cloak of invisibility, ship which required no sails, a goblet of truth, etc (click the link and read associations)
d) Hyboria means North wind of a wild boar - Hy from hyper = above and Borea = the north wind (nicked by Mr Bob Howard from Greek mythology)
So something pig-related ?

| Brythunian Misfits
from The Hyborian Age, an article written by REH to discribe the history of the hyborian region, to give the races and locations depth.
"and the Nordics who settled in Brythunia were known as Brythunians, Brythons or Britons."
Ref Manannan, REH may have played with the spelling. Only possible referance i have read so far is in The Slithering Shadow, where Conan uses "Lir an mannanan mac lir" to curse a woman for stupidity.

Which says "Lir and Manannan son of Lir", which I would guess equates to "Jesus, Mary and Joseph!", Lir being one of the pantheon of three gods; Crom, Lir and Manannan; and Crom never to be mentioned in case you attract his attention and annoy him.
As for the speling, it's the same
Might be on to something with the Brythunia thing though:
"The Celtic languages are divided into two branches: the Goedelic or Gaelic (Irish, Scots Gaelic, Manx), and the Brythonic (Welsh, Cornish, and Breton). Goedelic is also known as Q-Celtic, and Brythonic as P-Celtic, the essential differences arising from sound-shifts. (Otherwise known as "minding one's P's and Q's"...
or minding one's P's n C's ?

| was looking at maps last night funnily enough..especially this one with Europe overlaid. Brythunia, being roughly 'Saxony' or Eastern Germany, was nowhere near Cimmeria or Aquilonia where most of us are 'from' or going.. Plus not all of us are British - so therefore saw it as probable cause to alienate peeps that aren't....
From Wikipaedophile
BrythuniaÂThe continental homelands of the Angles and Saxons who invaded Great Britain, which is the origin of the name, though the civilization depicted is similar to that of medieval Poland, Lithuania, Latvia. Semantically, the name Brythunia is from the Welsh Brython, "Briton," derived from the same root as the Latin Brito, Britannia.
Was thinking something more 'broad ranging' geographically. All of Hyboria, not one specific country.
From Wiki
The word "Hyborian" is a transliterated contraction by Howard of the Ancient Greek "hyperborean," referring to a "barbaric dweller beyond the boreas (north wind)."Ώ]
Howard stated that the geographical setting of the Hyborian Age is that
of our earth, but in a fictional period in the past, circa 14,000 BC to 10,000 BC.
How about something like 'Hyborealis' cut down from 'Aurora Hyborealis' - a shining light to unite the northern barbaric tribes... lol.
I'm guessing Stygians becoming part of our guild would be abandoning
their evil Egyptian taint in theory!? Stygia is bang on pretty much for
Egypt. Oh and MASSIVE LOL at 'Iranistan'.. as for the 'Black Kingdoms'.....tsk!
not sure where the pigs/boar bit came from?

well... Saxons and Angles invaded everything between Germany and Britain (Denmark etc etc). The pig/boar thing comes from an alternate translation of barbarian...

| personally preferred Hyborealis (from Hyboria)
HYPERborea is snowy wastes east of Asguard/Vanaheim and the hyper part maybe sounds a little gay..
also thought 'Aurora Hyborealis' was a little poncy in full
I dunno.. open to more suggestions...
Reunion worked for me - though is it alienating anyone we dont already know??
Politics eh!?
