To be honest, as far as I am aware, not really. It seems the hardcore players, including myself , have reached Brigadier General and then thought, medals are great, but really, what is the point. No real chance of going higher unless you rank whore......6,000 of my own points are due to this. Server glitch and before you know it you are getting medals again which are worth x amount of points. Peeps realised this and exploited it. Some of the Supreme Commanders were a joke.
 
Best part for me was not so much the teamwork, but the gunship. Shit to fly, shit to shoot until they added homing missiles blah blah blah FOR AGES 8 AND UNDER........

BF2 truely was a squad based game. The ranks were harder, I would say the kills are harder....

So to sum up your question, would love to play once a week because if we get enough, we will have a laugh, which for me did not happen enough. I took it far too seriously which in itself spoiled the game for me......Although that gold gunship award...30 kills in one round in a gunship....now that truely was worth it.....
